MMB Maritime Museum Museu Marítim Barcelona. Drassanes Reials. Barcelona's Maritime Museum is located at the port end of Las Ramblas street in the 14th century shipyards called '
Drassanes Reials de Barcelona', which means the 'Royal Shipyards.' The Royal shipyards were constructed in 1378 by agreement of King Pere IV, the
Consell de Cent (Council of One Hundred) and the Diputació del General (city council.)
In 1993 the Consorci de les Drassanes Reials i Museu Marítim de Barcelona (Barcelona Shipyard and Maritime Museum Consortium) was formed to develop and maintain the old shipyard buildings and the Maritime Museum of Barcelona. The Maritime museum also has a schooner called '
Santa Eulalia' which is open to the public (when in port) at the
Moll de la Fusta (wood wharf) at Barcelona's Port Vell harbour just near
Rambla del Mar walkway to
MareMagnum shopping mall.
